So I have to talk about myself? Awkward!!

Well, I was born and raised in Knoxville, TN and graduated from Middle TN State University with a degree in the Recording Industry/Music Business program with a double minor in Marketing and Mass Communication. My goal was to do promotions and marketing with recording artists, but I quickly learned that I was a ‘road dog,’ and sitting at a record label desk was not for me! I met my Mr. Perfect at MTSU and we married in 2002.
After a few years of touring with different recording artists, my husband and I had the opportunity to spend a month in South Africa with a group of our friends. I think it’s safe to say that trip changed my life. We decided that we were ready to try to start a family, but to do that, our gypsy lifestyles would have to change. When I got back to the states, I enrolled in a photography class at Nashville State and continued working as a bridal consultant at an upscale bridal shop which I did when I wasn’t touring. My intention was simply to learn how to use my camera correctly, but I just could not get enough! I ended up taking every photography class that was offered and a year and a half later, I opened Bledsoe Photography in Nashville. It has been the best decision I have ever made and I absolutely LOVE my job!
I think shooting weddings was a natural progression for me since I spent so much time working with brides to find their dream dress, veil, accessories, etc. I love the details that brides spend so much time choosing, and that shows up in my work. Weddings can be chaotic and fast-paced…it’s the type of environment that I thrive in!
In 2008, my dear hubby decided to also pause with touring. His new job brought us back to my hometown of Knoxville and after 6 years of heartache, we are finally expecting our first child in late March 2012. We are so excited!
I can’t wait to see what God has planned for us. In the meantime, I continue to educate myself with photography workshops, classes, and conferences. And I love hearing from East Tennessee brides, so let’s chat!
xoxo, Shanell
